Associate Officer – Male Engagement & SASA! Together
Project : Sustainable Solutions and Protection for the Rohingya Refugee

Salary and benefits : Monthly Gross Salary BDT. 49,290 with other admissible benefits such as

Job Summary
The Associate Officer – Male Engagement & SASA! Together is responsible for supporting and implementing community-based GBV prevention activities with a specific focus on male engagement and the SASA! Together methodology. The role works closely with men, boys, community leaders, and activists to promote positive masculinity, challenge harmful social norms, and strengthen community accountability to prevent gender-based violence.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
Program Implementation – Men and Boys Engagement & SASA! Together
· Implement field-level activities under SASA! Together and male and boys engagement initiatives in line with approved work plans and methodologies.
· Facilitate MABE group sessions, discussions, and community actions with men, boys, and community influencers.
· Support implementation of SASA! Phases, monitor the performances of activists and ensure activities align with the program’s stage-specific objectives.
· Promote positive masculinity, non-violence, shared power, and respectful relationships through structured and informal engagements.
Community Mobilization and Outreach
· Engage male community members, leaders, and influencers to participate in GBV prevention initiatives.
· Support community outreach activities, campaigns, and awareness sessions.
· Work with community leaders and local activists to expand outreach and participation.
· Ensure inclusive participation of diverse community members, including adolescents and marginalized groups.
Volunteer and Activist Support
· Monitoring and guiding the GBV prevention Volunteers.
· Support recruitment, orientation, and coordination of male activists and community volunteers.
· Provide day-to-day guidance and support to volunteers during activity implementation.
· Monitor volunteer performance and participation and report challenges to the GBV Prevention Officer.
· Promote adherence to ActionAid’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding standards among volunteers.
Documentation, and Reporting
· Maintain accurate records of activities, attendance, and community engagement outcomes.
· Collect qualitative feedback and community insights to support learning and adaptation.
· Submit regular activity reports to the GBV Prevention Officer.
· Support monitoring visits, learning reviews, and evaluations.
Coordination and Referral Support
· Coordinate with other GBV prevention team members to ensure cohesive implementation across programmes.
· Support referral of GBV-related disclosures to appropriate response services, following survivor-centered principles and referral pathways.
· Liaise with community structures and partners as guided by supervisors.
Safeguarding, Ethics, and Professional Conduct
· Uphold ActionAid’s safeguarding, PSEA, and child protection policies at all times.
· Ensure activities are conducted safely and do not place participants at risk.
· Report safeguarding concerns and incidents through established procedures.
· Maintain respectful, professional, and ethical conduct with community members and colleagues.
Security and Staff Wellbeing
· Follow ActionAid security protocols and camp-level regulations.
· Participate in supervision, debriefing, and self-care activities.
· Support a positive, respectful, and safe working environment.
Required Educational Qualification and Experience
Experience:
§ Minimum 1–3 years of experience in GBV prevention, community mobilization, or male engagement programming.
§ Experience working with men and boys in community-based initiatives preferred.
§ Experience in humanitarian or refugee settings is an asset.
Education & Training:
§ Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
· Basic understanding of GBV prevention and gender equality concepts.
· Familiarity with SASA! Together or similar community mobilization approaches is desirable.
· Strong facilitation and communication skills.
· Ability to engage sensitively with community members on gender and power-related issues.
